Hay fever season: how your pharmacist can help
Pollen season can make summer miserable. The good news is your pharmacy can help.
When the grass and pollen counts rise across Kerry, hay fever can turn a lovely summer into weeks of sneezing, itchy eyes and a blocked nose. You do not have to simply put up with it.
What helps
There are several ways to ease hay fever, and the right approach depends on your symptoms:
- Antihistamines to calm sneezing and itching
- Eye drops for itchy, watering eyes
- Nasal sprays for a blocked or runny nose
- Simple steps like keeping windows closed on high-pollen days and rinsing pollen off when you come indoors
Our pharmacist can talk you through the options and help you choose what suits you best.
Hay fever (allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis) is one of the eight conditions covered by the new Common Conditions Service. Where appropriate, our pharmacist can assess and treat it without a GP appointment. A consultation fee applies.
